Shell Info Needed

Hello. I'm brand new to the forum and asking questions right up front. It's been a while since I've brought out the CW Collection but it's time to sell some of the items plus my wife inherited a lot from her father. I'd like to brush up on the items before selling them. Thanks for any help!
I would not mind posted some items here if interested. I've sold a few things through Ebay but hate it.
Can anyone give me the correct type of shell this is? Any idea of value? Thanks SO much.

It is definitely a yankee Read-Parrott shell. It is called a Read-Parrott because its sabot (the iron ring in its base) was designed and patented by Dr. John B. Read in 1856, and Robert P. Parrott designed the rest of its iron body (and also manufactured the shell). It is the most common of all American civil war cylindrical-bodied artillery shells.

You did not tell us your shell's measurements, so I cannot say what caliber it is. In your photo, it seems to be a 2.9"-caliber projectile ...which was used only in a "10-pounder" Parrott Rifled Cannon, so the shell is often called a 10-pounder shell. Here in Virginia, where 10-pounder Read-Parrott shells are extremely common, a dug one in decent condition (like yours) sells at civil war relic shows for about $175-$195. Of course, to sell it at a relic-show, or on Ebay, the shell's powder must be removed.

Thanks Pete! I thought it was but there were a few others that were simliar and wanted to be correct when I list it. The measurements are about 8 1/4" long, base is about 3" and the weight is a little over 8 pounds.

I THINK this one is from Kennesaw Mtn but I've lost the info during storage. I was buying a lot of items from a digger from around Dalton, Ga about 20 years ago. We will be selling some nice CSA buttons soon, too. My wife's father passed away about 10 years ago and she has decided to let some items go.

Thanks again for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
