I am not sure how to post a question but I will at least try. I have inherited a collection of old lead or copper bullets from Tenn. I need help in identifying them. Up first is a 3 indented ring lead bullet. solid not hollow. Measures .375 and weighs 0.5 oz. Any help will be appreciated.
Hey raw war digger, I saw in one of your posts that you hunted near the battle at davis bridge. I've metal detected there too and didn't find much. Do you know any areas around there that I could get permission to hunt. I live near Tiplersville, MS on the old Pocahontas-Ripley road. The confederates retreated to Ripley after that battle and marched right by my house. I found a .577 caliber in my horse pasture. I just wanted to meet some guys in my area to help me get permission to hunt a camp or a skirmish site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rian Frazier (Carnage1on1)
Hey rebel digger. I live near Falkner, MS. I found your posts and also Ripley Rebels posts on here. I live on the old Pocahontas-Ripley road near Ruckersville, MS outside Falkner. I've been searching for the exact location of the skirmish near Ruckersville which happened after they retreated from Corinth and Davis bridge. My name is Rian Frazier and Im needing help finding camps or anywhere I can find bullets. I've only found 1 bullet .577 caliber and two percusssion caps. I found them in my horse pasture with an old Fisher 1260x. I'd love to meet you and Ripley Rebel some time if possible. Thanks, Rian.

Well I've been digging since 1985. Lived in Brandon MS. about 47 miles from Vicksburg MS. Done most of my hunting there and around Port Gibson, Edwards,Bovina, any anywhere they're might be relics in Central MS. In the artillery category over the past 25 years I've dug out over 300 shell and projectile and 3 CS plates and numerous US plates. My best find is a rarity 10 CS Buckle I sold to Carolina Relics in 2001 for $8000 cash and was pictured in the Eastern Western Treasures and the Whites add. I now live in Hohenwald TN 65 miles south of Nashville. I look forward to getting back down to the Vicksburg area for more visits and digging.
Seen on a posting about the Whitworth bullet that you knew Dickey Wolfe of Carolina Beach.. What a great man.. My father and I had known him for about 15yrs.. Are you from down around that area??
Hello Guys

I am not knowledgeable and need some help to identify this canister. Is it real and original or has it been restored?? The wood and the horizontal seem on metal. Does this have any collector value??

I have a W.W. Hanes "Excelsior" hand grenade. 14 brass nipples, One powder hole, two screw together halfs; one side with Excelsior (horizontally positioned) and the other with W.W. Hanes PAT. AUG. 26.62 in a circle. Can you tell me about this and how do I authenticate the item
Back in the 60's I found a round solid ball that is 1 3/4" round and weighs 14.5 ounces in the dirt here in Kansas and I always wondered if it was a Civil War ball. I'm hoping that someone here would be able to tell if this is CW. It's not perfectly round but it appears that it was created from a mold that had two half's and they were off center just a bit then ground down to make it a round as possible. We may not know exactly what it is but I thought I would ask. Thanks for replying.

Pete, check your email for my reply.. CWBullet sent me a notification saying your private message box was full... delete some stuff if possible.
I'm new here, and I am no expert on CW items, or metal detecting. I do find the subject fascinating.
I am knowledgeable about the more modern cartridge firearms and ammunition (smokeless powder stuff).
I also moderate a couple of hunting/shooting BB's. Enough so I can tell spam when I see it.
Anyway, if you can't find some more experienced/knowledgeable volunteers, I'll help out- I enjoy this board very much. My e mail is : jac284@yahoo.com
Scott,
Check out my button on the Button thread. longf70. Have any ideas of what it is? Found in Beans Station. It's got to be a military school. Marcus
I would be most happy to help you fellows out. To be honest, 35% of all relics I recovered have come from Dandridge. This one field that I have uncovered through research has given up an eagle breast plate, 37 bullets, a pocket watch, gun parts, 11 buttons, large pieces to a trumpet, 1 nice carved bullet that looks like an hour glass, J hooks, melted lead, and so on! Best take from the battle hear in Dandridge for me. Some brief knowledge: Rimmer Creek just past Route 66 leaving center of Dandridge was the main Union battle line, all the land for miles behind the Walmart and along the tracks was the Battle of Mossy Creek. Search from 66 up to the golf course and just past on the right are large fields that had many of longstreets camps. Shout out if you need any thing else, scott
Hello, I'm new to metal detecting and wondering if you could give my buddy and I some advice on some areas to hunt. I live in Dandridge and he lives in Newport. We've done some searching around the farm at his grandparents, but we've just found trash. We've been doing research on some local battles, but we can't narrow down where the battles occured and where campsites were. If you wouldn't mind helping us we'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks
